‘Min Dae’

An old Afrikaans South African Army slang which means the last few days of a person’s (compulsory) military service. Hence as a comforting or encouraging interjection: ‘only a few days now’.

However in this post it’s more excitement and nervousness as Worlds Toughest Mudder is only a few days away and every time I think about it I get a tingly sensation through my body and bombs in the pit of my stomach knowing the goal of reaching 80 miles is not going to be a walk in the park.

Have I trained enough..? Am I mentally prepared to embrace the suck and endure what is in store for me..?

I believe so and this year I’m not going alone, I have a support/pit crew, MyMom and my wife will be there to help me with the small things that feel like major tasks when you cold and fatigued in ‘tent city’ making time in the pit area more efficient, which can lead too me getting those 3 extra laps I missed out on at the 2015 WTM only doing 65 miles. Not only do I have a Pit Crew but I have the incredible team from Upright Health Muscle and Joint Care in my corner that have been working on me the last few months and will be able to help with sending my pit crew advice should I come into any injuries and do running repairs along the way.

Thank you to IKind Media for this amazing highlight reel and for taking a chance and working with me.

Thank you to my good friend Jon Perry from Minority For The Masses for the sweet track, rock on boet.

Follow  live coverage and download the WTM App (I dont have my bib number yet but just athlete search Pieter Joubert) also go follow me on Facebook to get updates
